The Life Insurance Market
|
New research has found that black heart disease patients are less likely to survive than white patients, which may make more people consider getting life insurance.
The race-related difference has been recorded by the American Heart Association (AHA) and shows that black women have the lowest survival rate (41 per cent), whilst white men have the highest (46 per cent).
Another unusual aspect is that the research discovered that on average, black heart disease patients are two years younger than white ones, which should, in theory, give them a better chance of survival.
Dr Kevin Thomas, who led the study, notes that doctors should improve care guidelines to help eliminate the disparity. Until that time though, people may want to consider life insurance to provide for their family if they die young.
