The following policy statement outlines how we may collect and use information about you and gives certain assurances on things we will not do.
- We may collect personal information about you from sources (if available) including:
(a) when you contact us with an enquiry or in response to a communication from us;
(b) from publicly available sources such as the electoral role;
(c) from referencing agencies that may verify your identity, in accordance with the money laundering regulations;
(d) when you agree to buy a product/service from us.
- You'd expect us to be concerned about the confidentiality and use of your personal information, and we are. We will use your personal information for purposes including:
(a) to help provide quotations, administer your policy and for compliance reviews where we have a duty to do so. We may transfer our rights and duties under any agreement in the execution of your business;
(b) to keep in touch with you so that you hear about any special offers and new products that may be of interest to you. Should you have come to LifeSearch through an intermediary or introducer, they sometimes ask us to confirm who has taken up a policy from us. This allows them to monitor our performance and customer service. Generally most communication is by post and occasionally by telephone or e-mail. In the event that you do not wish to participate in these activities, please write to the Customer Contact Team, LifeSearch Limited, Epworth House, 25 City Road, London EC1Y 1AA, telling us about your preferences for how we may use your personal information.
(c) from time to time, we would like to tell you about special customer promotions provided by third parties. Rest assured, we will do our very best to ensure that these match your likely interests and requirements. Again, most communication is by post and occasionally by telephone or email.

Should you not wish to receive postal or telephone contact from them, then please write to the Customer Contact Team, LifeSearch Limited, Epworth House, 25 City Road, London EC1Y 1AA explaining your preferences so that we can suppress you from such communication.
(d) to help administer accounts, products and services for which you are a customer;
(e) to help detect fraud or loss.
- Information you supply may be used by insurance companies who provide services to LifeSearch for the purpose of administering and processing your application/account.
- If you ask, we will tell you what information we hold about you and provide a copy in line with the Data Protection Act. (A fee of £5 is payable.) You should let us know then if you think any information we hold about you is inaccurate so that we can correct it.
We will store your details on computer, but will not keep them longer than necessary.
For our joint protection and for staff training, some calls may be recorded and/or monitored. This is in case we need to check we have carried out your instructions correctly and to help improve our quality of service.
What is a Cookie?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer’s hard drive by websites you visit to enable the site to ’remember’ who you are, and maybe to allow functions on the site to work for you. In general, cookies are only visible to the site that serves them, not to other websites.
‘Serves’ means placing on your computer’s hard drive.
We do not serve cookies directly from LifeSearch as we have no requirement to ‘remember’ you on any part of your journey through the LifeSearch site. However, to allow us to analyse the performance and statistics on the LifeSearch website, we do use an analysis tool, in this instance, the Google Analytics tool (see http://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/analytics/). Google Analytics uses persistent cookies to track data. These cookies do not collect any personally identifiable information and are only used for the statistical collection of data such as visits and page use. Google Analytics cookies store IP addresses but we cannot link these addresses to any individual or path through the website. Google uses the cookies to read information and evaluate visitors’ use of the website in the form of statistical reports that we can access. The Google Analytics code is incorporated into our site’s code so that our site serves the cookies, but Google has access to the cookies.
‘IP address’ – a numeric address assigned to you when you turn on your computer or router. These addresses are generally dynamic and change every time you reboot.
